Towards the end of the year, the SápmiDem project held a three-day in-person meeting in Stockholm. We updated each other about the work in each work package and focused on two key themes: discussing our ethical research practices in the project and planning for collaboration between work packages. Discussions highlighted the importance, as well as the complexity, of Indigenous research ethics across various contexts, including consent, anonymity, and psychosocial support. We also explored practical solutions for data ownership and archiving the research data.

Across all work packages, the project is advancing toward shared goals of advancing Sámi participation, procedural justice, and practical decision-making tools. We discussed how to ensure that research outcomes are accessible and broadly disseminated in Sámi society and beyond, thereby advancing inclusive and rights-based governance.
The project has been off to a strong start, and all partners are eager to continue the research and deepen collaboration as we move forward.
